2024 Supervisor Speaker Series - District 4 Supervisor Wendy Root Askew

The Monterey County Business Council is excited to announce the Supervisor Speaker Series for the 2024 year! Our June luncheon will feature District 4 Supervisor Wendy Root Askew at Tarpy's Roadhouse.  A creative problem-solver with four generation deep roots in Monterey County, Wendy Root Askew is a mother to a young child, wife to an architect, and daughter to a parent educator and retired Army Colonel. As County Supervisor, Askew is committed to advancing policy that promotes the ability of families – in all their forms to have their basic needs met in safe, connected communities where there is opportunity for personal fulfillment, and access to protected natural resources.  

Representing the communities of Sand City, Del Rey Oaks, Marina, East Garrison, CSUMB, Salinas, and Seaside, Askew began her 4-year term in January 2021. Askew currently serves on the Board of Supervisors’ (BOS) Budget, Legislative, Human Resources and Homelessness Standing Committees. She also serves on the BOS Ad Hoc Committees addressing County Communications and Housing Authority of Monterey County Reorganization. In addition, Askew represents the Board of Supervisors on the Boards of the Central Coast Alliance for Health, RenGen Monterey (Monterey Regional Waste Management District), Monterey Bay Air Resources District, Transportation Agency for Monterey County, Seaside Ground Basin Watermaster, and Monterey County Children’s Council. She is also serves as an alternate member to LAFCO and 3CE. She is an active member of the National Association of Counties, California State Association of Counties, and CivicWell.
