Kickoff Event: 2025 Supervisor Speaker Series with Chair Chris Lopez
The Monterey County Business Council is thrilled to launch the 2025 Supervisor Speaker Series! This series provides an opportunity to connect with Monterey County Supervisors, learn about their vision, and hear firsthand about their priorities for our communities. We’re kicking off the series with Supervisor Chris Lopez, Chair of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.
Chris Lopez was elected in June 2018 to represent Monterey County’s Third District, succeeding Supervisor Simon Salinas. A lifelong advocate for the Salinas Valley, Lopez lives in Greenfield with his wife, Jazmin, their three-year-old son, Teo, and baby daughter, Inés.
After graduating from college, Lopez returned to the Salinas Valley and approached Supervisor Salinas with a bold offer—an unpaid internship. His dedication and skills quickly earned him a full-time position as Board Aide, followed by a promotion to Chief of Staff, a role he held for over seven years. His leadership and deep commitment to the community led to his election to the Monterey County Board of Supervisors in 2018, where he took office in January 2019.
Supervisor Lopez has served on numerous boards, including:
✔ Youth Orchestra Salinas
✔ Hartnell College Foundation
✔ Arts Council for Monterey County
✔ Redevelopment Oversight Boards for King City, Greenfield, Soledad, and Gonzales
