About Robert Rivas:

Robert Rivas has served as the Speaker of the California State Assembly since June 30, 2023. First elected to the Assembly in 2018, he previously chaired the Assembly Agriculture Committee and was Vice-Chair of the Latino Legislative Caucus. A lifelong resident of the 29th Assembly District, Rivas began his public service on the San Benito County Board of Supervisors. His early experiences growing up in farmworker housing, with a grandfather who was a labor leader alongside Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, have deeply influenced his commitment to public service and advocacy for underrepresented communities.
